ABOUT US | STUDIO
stellavie is a design studio and manufacturer from Hamburg, Germany - run by
Steffen Heidemann and
Viktoria Klein.
Loving paper, print, production techniques and typography as much as elaborated concepts and surprising ideas we are working in the creative field
for clients both national and international as much as producing and releasing various print projects on our own.
Curiosity is what makes us tick at all times, we are keen on learning – to try out new things, to inspire others is what stellavie is all about.
There are some things we learned by the book, no doubt. Most of the magic though is a result of what we have taught and shown ourselves and each other.
We are thrilled by meaningful design, we admire paper as a material as much as a carrier of (well structured) ideas and communication, we are
fascinated by 'obsolete' printing techniques and letterpress machinery as much as by a piece of brilliant software and fast computers.
We love the new just as much as we love the old.
With a huge appreciation for the crafts and supported by modern engraving and laser cutting techniques we thrive to create beautiful work:
Graphic-Design with a fresh perspective, numbered edition artworks and prints, paper greeting cards and lampshades.
We love to make things, to question, to prototype, to discard and to start over where necessary, we love to conspire, to produce and to create –
always committed until all final details are perfectly sound. We love developing the best solution for any new challenge.

FAQ
Why do we sell most of the artworks as limited editions?
We do believe that there are some wonderful things out there that do not need to be sold in infinite amounts.
With every finished 'run' we also cut ourselves a clean slate for new things to come – while gladly offering a hint of exclusivity.
Every limited edition print is indicated as such – numbered and individually hand stamped on its backside.
Is paper a good material for lampshades?
The paper we mainly use is a strong, 300gsm premium quality fine paper. Its strong grammage makes it reasonably robust.
From a personal standpoint, the beauty of paper isn't reached by any other material – paper is a perfect companion to our designs.
Care recommendations: obviously the lampshades should only ever be cleaned form dust and never be wiped wet.
What is the reason to recommend an energy-saving lightbulb?
Ecologically speaking, an energy-saving lightbulb is the best option and the right thing to do until better options present itself.
An energy-saving lightbulb generates far less heat as well – and is thus much safer in any given environment.
We recommend an energy-saving lightbulb between 8W and no more then 23W with a 'warm white' color temperature.
Lampshades only, what about corresponding bases?
Unfortunately we are not selling any bases together with our lampshades at this point in time.
Many modern and even traditional bases will blend with our lampshades very nicely though (see mood pictures).
The lampshades are perfectly suited as pendant lights as well – we recommend a diameter of 30cm.
Customized lampshades?
Almost every lampshade can be manufactured with different designs and papers (if available/in stock).
You fell in love with a design, but would prefer it with a different paper?
