Massenarbeitslosigkeit oder Effizienzrevolution? Und dann … ?

U.S. DOD vs. Anthropic

The Adolescence of TechnologyConfronting and Overcoming the Risks of Powerful AI …

Google just dropped Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana)

Google just dropped Gemini 2.5 Flash Image (Nano Banana). Computational media creation, imagery or sound, is making huge leaps in output quality. While this has been obvious for a while it’s more evident than ever before that we won't be able to spot the fakes from images or videos of something completely and utterly fabricated. How any and all of these new tools will transform politics, human relationships and societies is far beyond unimaginable. Some quick benchmark comparisons and examples …

AI is dangerous, but not for the reasons you think

AI is dangerous, but not for the reasons you think by Artificial Intelligence Researcher Dr Sasha Luccioni Sasha Luccioni. Absolutely love the argument to shift our attention and focus towards current issues (like how AI is shaping elections, displacing labor, concentrating power, and amplifying misinformation) instead of wasting time with a) oversimplified doomsday scenarios or b) blind-faith bets that AI might just magically solve most or all of our collective problems in the not-so-distant future.

AI is starting to wear down democracy

AI is starting to wear down democracy — as the NYT reports, "content generated by artificial intelligence has become a factor in elections around the world". John Oliver in AI Slop: Last Week Tonight underscores the growing issue, explaining "why you’ve been seeing more AI-generated content online and the harm it can do". Keep in mind that AI's current capabilities, understanding and rendered audio-, image and video-quality is "the worst AI will ever be". It's not just a tool, but a force of transformation, reshaping societies in ways we're only beginning to grasp. Brings to mind the 1999 BBC interview with David Bowie, about the internet, its implications and promises, good and bad: "Is there life on Mars? Yes, it just landed here."
